Our Team
Don Roberston
Don is a Marylander, born in Baltimore County and raised on the Gunpowder River. He attended Perry Hall High School where he excelled in baseball, soccer and track. In pursuit of a baseball career, Don went to college at the University of Tampa, earning his BS degree in Business.
Don married and relocated to Chester County, Pa. There he honed his selling skills in the retail and automotive fields. It wasn’t until 1991, when he took a job at Color Tile in King of Prussia, that Don found his calling. At Color Tile, Don learned his trade and advanced from sales to manager in less than 2 years. He stayed with Color Tile until they folded as a company.
In 1996, Don moved his son and wife to Ocean City, where he began working directly for Mohawk Industries as a territory manager. Driving the entire Delmarva Peninsula, Don learned the strengths and weaknesses of every dealer and helped improve their businesses with the knowledge he had gained as a retailer. Don also had the privilege of expanding his territory from 1.5 million to over 3.7 million dollars in just a few short years. Don considers himself very lucky for his years with Mohawk and the friendships he has developed with all the dealers here on the shore.
In 2008, tired of driving 50,000+ mile per year, Don approached Matt and Denise Odachowski and promptly became a member of the Royal Plus family as the manager of the flooring dept.. The fit was immediate and Royal Plus seems to be very happy with what Don has brought to the table. His philosophy is simple, offer the customer great service, with a proven product at a fair price. Don has hand picked both his sales staff as well as his installation crews.
Don enjoys cycling and has completed 4 Seagull Century rides for charity. He enjoys football, softball, spending time with his wife and supporting his son who is in the Army National Guard. Don freely admits that while he loves golf, he is one of the world’s worst players. Too much of a baseball swing, I guess.
Jim Ruark
Jim Ruark was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. The son of a musician, Jimmy picked up the drumsticks and began to wail. Growing up as a young man, he has played with some of the finest society bands in the Baltimore area. While he was playing and making a living, the SHORE, was calling his name.
In 1979, Jim moved to Salisbury, Maryland and opened up his own business, a chemical lawn care business. Through the years of building his clientele base, many long friendships were made. When the time was right, Jimmy sold his business and cashed in on one of those friendships.
In 1988, Jimmy began selling ceramic tile for a wholesale distributor here on the beach. Making more friends and covering many miles, when the business closed its doors, Jimmy found himself working for the largest flooring contractor in the state at the height of the building boom. Working on new construction was exciting, but unfortunately, short lived. The building boom came to a screeching halt and the company closed its local office. Not wanting to move back to the big city, Jimmy was hand picked and accepted the position with Royal Plus.
Jimmy is and avid hunter and loves to fish for Rock, off his boat, “HUM DINGER”. He is an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary as certified crew and served as Division Staff Officer - Treasurer.
